High School bathrooms make me nervous. As a high-schooler I avoided them whenever possible, and
when I was forced to enter the fluorescent domain of the ‘it’ crowd, I would usually just wash my hands
quickly and escape, sometimes remarking inwardly the sheer vanity of the mirror’s inhabitants.
Did these girls even recognize themselves? Do they now?

the bathroom was always where you learnt all the wacky, behind the scenes knowledge of things you really aught not to know…….highschool, I’m glad it’s over.
Comment by thewanderingobserver October 3, 2007 @ 10:40 pmOh my God! Lauren, you are like totally the most amazing and talented person on this side of the universe. If it wasn’t for you brilliance the human race would perish into despair and all life as we know it would end. You certainly brighten up my world!

Comment by Evgueni Naverniouk October 3, 2007 @ 10:47 pmI get nervous in all public washrooms. I’d have to say that high school bathrooms are often the worst though.
Comment by plingativator October 3, 2007 @ 11:27 pm(to plingativator) High School bathrooms are notoriously brutal, but I agree with your comment in full. Libraries also tend to make me uncomfortable. . . something about being confined to relative silence, perhaps?
Comment by softrevolution October 3, 2007 @ 11:41 pmlibraries make me uncomfortable too… i find myself giggling a lot or feeling the need to scream! *SHHH*
Comment by digitalpunk October 9, 2007 @ 6:20 amit’s funny, school bathrooms for me were never much for the cool kids, it was mainly where losers like me skipped class and drew graffiti on the walls. except for a little while in middle school. in high school it was a place to write poems, draw pictures, and give each other punk hairdos your parents were bound to scream about later. i guess it really depends on the power relations of bathrooms past.
Comment by snapdragons October 10, 2007 @ 4:42 amThere are girls who wash their hair in public mall bathrooms, does that count as gross and uncomfortable? Primping like that in the sink is strange.
I like being in the bathroom alone, reading the graffiti. Then I can fart to my heart’s content.
Comment by blue bennu October 10, 2007 @ 4:48 amAlso, girls always changed clothes in the stalls, even if there were people who desperately needed to urinate. Like it was a shameful thing. Dunno why that always got to me. So what if they saw my underwear? Bah.
Comment by blue bennu October 10, 2007 @ 4:50 amAlso yes Lauren you’re a genius.
If you died now, you would be a legend forever.
However, don’t do that, it would suck.
